Why The C2C Line Up Is Nearly Perfection

The line up for C2C 2018 has been announced on stage at the Shepherds Bush Empire tonight by Whispering Bob Harris.

Headlining across the 3 days are Kacey Musgraves, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and Little Big Town. Kelsey Ballerini, Luke Combs, Kip Moore, Midland and Margo Price are also set to perform on the main stage at some point Friday-Sunday. There have been very mixed reactions following this announcement, with many saying Kacey Musgraves isn’t headline material and that Little Big Town performed a few years ago and therefore shouldn’t appear again. Okay so here’s my take on it…

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are a fantastic choice, not only because their US tour was totally giving us FOMO, but because their new duet album is shaping up to be a success. To have these legendary performers play for us is so exciting and nobody is debating this at all. Little Big Town and Kacey Musgraves on the other hand… here we go:

I was at C2C 2016 when Little Big Town performed before Carrie Underwood, and some of the crowd left after their set. They didn’t stay to see Carrie, I was literally in shock. From this point of view it’s totally understandable why they are now returning to headline. Also, they are currently touring the UK and Europe and it is going down incredibly. Yes, they’re touring and yes they appeared in 2016 so maybe the headliner should have been someone we haven’t seen before, but we know that Little Big Town bring it every damn time. Plus, they have a new album C2C hasn’t heard before.

Kacey Musgraves is an amazing artist from a songwriting perspective and as a performer. With two albums under her belt (not including her Christmas album) and new music on the way, it’s not hard to see why she is headlining. From her humble beginnings to her controversial lyrics, Musgraves is country through and through. Her gig at the Birmingham O2 Institute two years ago is still one of the best I’ve heard. The only disappointment for me with this announcement is that the venue isn’t as intimate as before, but I couldn’t be more thrilled. I’ve been a fan for so long, and I’m feeling so proud that Kacey is headlining such a major event for UK country fans. She’ll prove the non-believers wrong and we all know it.

The biggest reaction I gave was to the announcement of Luke Combs. I play This One’s For You on repeat and I’m fully obsessed with ‘When It Rains It Pours’. I think Combs could be huge and I’m excited for his C2C performance. I honestly can’t wait to see any of these amazing artists on the line up, but other standouts for me so far are Midland and Emmylou Harris. Emmylou Harris!!!! A bit gutted Lindsay Ell is only on the Spotlight Stage but she’ll rock it either way. I was also hoping so badly for Brett Eldredge, Rascal Flatts or Luke Bryan but hey! There’s always next year.

Tickets for this years festival go on sale October 20th, and the festival falls on 9th, 10th and 11th March 2018. Follow @CravingCountry for news and updates on UK tours, or refer to the official C2C website.
