Country Reacts to the Loss of Two Greats

Yesterday, Friday 8th September, marks a sad day for country music fans and artists alike as we said goodbye to the gentle giant, Don Williams and half of Montgomery Gentry, Troy Gentry.

Williams died Friday morning following a short illness, while Gentry passed away as a result of a helicopter crash en route to show in Medford, New Jersey.

Country artists reacted to this news on social media with tributes and solidarity. Some saw Williams and Gentry as friends, some as heroes, but whatever the connection there has been a definite sadness across social media since, with all agreeing that the 8th September was a sad day for country music.

Tributes poured in in the form of tweets, pictures and in traditional country form, covers of the artists’ songs.

God bless you Troy Gentry. Heartbroken and in disbelief.
